There is that subliminal hum It’s always there, but you know that already. The color and the jive and the bell-ringing cymbals, But you know all that, too. It’s the tingle in my palms when I see you’ve been here, Leaving invisible trails of talk since we last spoke. And the shiver is there like a shock when You accidentally feel the source of all that light; But not the smoke between power-source and flesh. The surge is more constrained. Neural endings responding to tin and copper titillations. Today, there is no touch and tell. Patricia Andrews June 19, 2000
Wow, I renjoyed this post Patricia. It is hard to believe that it is 26 years old now, it seems quite timeless.
The entirity of it is quite a beautiful narritive, but some lines that stood out were:
"Leaving invisible trails of talk since we last spoke." - I have never heard that expression before and I think it is wonderful. There is that invisible thread that can be woven from conversations that still tug at us. Wondeful!
"But not the smoke between power-source and flesh." - This line is great due to the multiple ways it can be interpreted. (I do alot of this in my work) but 'the smoke between power' is an interesting thought by itself, 'source and flesh' is another interesting thought. And the way this line can be disassembled and reassembled allow for the poem to be more expansive. Well done!
Thank you for taking the time to write and then to share.
Wow! Powerful piece, Patricia! May I say, ELECTRIC! I read multiple times and each time it stimulated different feelings and visions. This brought visual to that which is invisible. Blessings and
As fresh as ever, Patricia—hard to believe you wrote it 26 years ago—the words stand up so well and, as Awe stated in their comment, the lines are expansive enough to find more than a single interpretation.

I’ve been writing, and drawing, and singing, and reading most of my life — I’ll be 81 in June. Published? 😂!
I’ll be 78 in June, Patricia! 😊
