Two Houses
Tell me of your dreams you said.
I have lived in the realm of reality
because dreams never work.
You must trust that I am honorable.
Show me by your actions.
Here is my heart, my home, it's yours –
but the dreams must remain mine.
I will honor your dreams,
but do you know mine?
Slowly and tentatively, they moved closer,
day by month, by year.
"l will build you a garden" she said.
"But you must not make a fence" he replied.
So, plant by plant she began
There were always the hungry deer.
She began to gather sticks.
"I built a fence" she said.
"l really love that fence!" he said.
