“Take a Stand”
From: I Write About What I Know
STAND —
WITH YOUR BARE FEET.
FEEL THE GROUND.
KNOW WHO WAS HERE BEFORE.
KNOW WHAT HAS COME BEFORE AND
YOU WILL KNOW WHAT IS TO COME.
STAND YOUR GROUND —
FOR THE LIFE THAT HAS COME BEFORE —
FOR THE LIFE THAT YET WILL BE —
WITH YOU —
OR WITHOUT YOU.
HONOR THAT LIFE.
IT IS THE MOTHER AND FATHER THAT WALK BEFORE YOU.
PRESERVE IT, DEFEND IT, AND IN THE END —
RETURN TO IT.

I love how you start with the present and connect it to the past and the future reminding us that this is not the only time that is, was or will be. Somewhat comforting at this time. Thank you.
I like the way this starts. I'm hoping that if I feel the ground with my bare feet (if I can find a spot without goats heads and/or ants), I will know that we will return to a society that values the planet we live on.
